General Achievement Test (GAT) – Wednesday 7 September
Last week we were very pleased to have had 100 students attend the practice GAT that was organised for Friday 12 August. These students will have their responses marked and feedback will be provided to them. Other students who did not attend have been given the opportunity to collect the test papers and complete them in their own time.
This year, the VCAA has scheduled the GAT to take place across Victoria on Wednesday 7 September. The GAT is a test of general knowledge and skills including English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, The Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences taken by students while completing their Senior Secondary studies.
From 2022, the GAT will be conducted in two sections.
9.30-11.45am Section A: Literacy (Reading and Writing) and Numeracy
1.15-3.00pm Section B: General Knowledge and Skills
- Students enrolled in the VCE will complete both Sections A and B.
- Students enrolled in VCAL will complete only Section A.
A letter will be sent to families confirming these arrangements in more detail. The GAT Parent Information Sheet has been attached. In the meantime, please note:
- All Year 12 students enrolled in the VCE or VCAL programs and Year 11 students enrolled in one or more VCE or scored VCE VET Units 3 and 4 subjects are required to sit the GAT.
- There will no scheduled classes on this date for Year 11 and 12 students.
Further information relating to the GAT including past GAT examinations can also be accessed via the VCAA website. To view these details, click on VCAA > Assessment > VCE Assessment > GAT.
If you have any questions relating to the GAT, please contact your child’s Pastoral and Learning Mentor, the House Leaders or Ms. Daniela Bombardieri-Szabo (Head of Learning and Teaching – Senior School).
