I am pleased to announce the successful implementation of a new Coding Program at Year 8 level. At the beginning of 2022 and with the collaboration of CS In Schools, the teachers in the Digital Technology Department (Nathan Williams, Rebecca Micallef, Peter Murray and myself) were instrumental in implementing and delivering the two courses: Introduction and Intermediate Coding using Python. Students had a first-hand experience in writing meaningful code to solve problems incorporating numeracy related concepts. We were also fortunate to have computing professional volunteers from various industries visit our classes to inspire students and assist teachers develop their skills. In 2023, we hope to continue our partnership with CS In Schools and aim to engage students further with coding.
