As we approach the end of another school year, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on the journey we’ve shared at Thomas Carr College. This year has been filled with growth, learning, and a deepening of our faith and community spirit.
This year we focussed on creating and building on an environment where all can learn and flourish. Our dedicated staff have engaged in a Strong Start, ensuring our young people have been able to focus on their learning and developing skills to have a rich and full life. Our entry routines have reflected our Berry Street Education Model foundations and have brought to life the strong investment the College has made in engagement and wellbeing.
Our use of Pulse data has ensured our students have had a voice and agency in their good mental health. Every week, our students have shared with us how they are travelling and have had a safe space to reach out for help if need be. Along with our amazing Counselling Team and our dynamic Youth and Family Partnerships Team, programs such as Pulse have created a climate of support and understanding.
The Time to Shine Program has also offered our students explicit social, emotional, and academic skills. By collaborating with their classmates, our students have been immersed in activities and opportunities that have enhanced their learning journey. The Time to Shine Program not only upskills our students in these very important life skills, but has given them time to connect with one another and to grow through those opportunities.
Our Student Leaders have engaged in a number of activities and initiatives that have given voice to the student community. Through the SRC, our various interest groups, and our Captains, students have been collaborating with the Wellbeing, Learning and Teaching, and Faith and Mission teams to bring about positive change that enhances their learning experience. The Luminosity Program has also offered unique opportunities for like-minded students to connect and grow.
As a community we have celebrated the rich diversity that is Thomas Carr College. During Harmony Week, Spirit Day, Thomas Carr Day, and RUOK? Day, we have ensured all students have had a place to shine. Through these events, our community grows in its richness and inclusivity, giving space for all to be who they have been called to be.
As always, the school year has been dynamic, rich, energetic, and beautifully enriched by the magnificent diversity that is Thomas Carr College. The Wellbeing Team wishes all our families a blessed and joy-filled Christmas break. We look forward to continuing your child’s learning journey together.
