Term 2 Wrap Up

Our Senior Girls AFL team came up against a very strong Penola outfit on the last Tuesday of term. Our girls battled hard and fought their way back into the game in the third quarter, after Penola got away to a fast start. Sadly though, Penola proved too talented, running away with a 16 point win. Congratulations to Ruby Hogan (Year 12) on being named the Peer Player Award.

Our Year 7 Girls Basketball team played off in the decider against Marymede Catholic College. Both teams played exceptionally well, however, with the game in the balance, Marymede took their chance and managed to nudge ahead, eventually winning by 5 points.

Our Year 7 Boys Basketball team came into their Grand Final neck and neck on points with Kolbe Catholic College and boy, did the game play out the same way. Our boys ran their hearts out but were beaten by a measly 1 point in a hotly contested final.

Although we did not come away with a Grand Final win, our students should be extremely proud of themselves for the way in which they represented the College and themselves. We are sure that they will learn lessons from the losses and use them to motivate themselves to go one better in 2025.

SACCSS Chess

Our Chess Team competed on Monday 22 July at the annual SACCSS Chess Tournament which was held at Antonine College.

We are very excited to share with you that our teams competed very strongly, with our Junior Team placing second overall and our Inters winning overall, which is fantastic news!

We also had some amazing individual placings:

  • Christoff R won the Junior Gold Medal
  • Hazel M, Junior Bronze Medal
  • Laksh B, Inter Gold Medal
  • Tanmay P, Inter Silver Medal

The other 13 participants also performed very well, each having contributed to the overall final results. They are: Prama V, Javier V, Akain F, Sarayu K, Gurjot H, Joshua D, Rainer A, Marquis V, Neil G, Shaurya C, Sai M, Joel B and Sahibveer N.

Congratulations to all of the students that competed, we are so very proud of you!

A special thanks to William Cheng for all of his hard work in training these teams over several months. We are very lucky to have your passion and enthusiasm in this co-curricular area.

Concussion and Mouthguards

Should your child play a sport outside school and receives a concussion, it is important to notify the Sport & Co-Curricular Leader and the College Nurse prior to your child’s next scheduled SACCSS game or training if involved.

The Australian Institute of Sport website has important information regarding concussion management (link below). We strongly encourage all families to familiarise themselves with this information, especially in the case of a concussion.

Should your child receive a concussion, parents/Carers will need a ‘Concussion Referral and Clearance Form’ completed by a Medical Practitioner and handed into the College Nurse prior to recommencing SACCSS training and games. This form can be found here:

This is an important step to ensure your child is safe to participate. Their health is our number one priority.
