Westport House Update: Developing Our Strengths in Semester 2!

08 August 2024

Term 3 is off to a dynamic and busy start for our Senior School Students.

Our Subject Expo Night was a tremendous success, offering students valuable insights into various pathways. This event has sparked meaningful conversations among our Year 10 and 11 students, who are actively discussing their future directions with teachers and our dedicated careers team. These discussions are helping them make informed decisions about their subject selections for the coming year.

Our Year 12s are now settling into the ‘business end’ of the year, with exams fast approaching. They are focused and determined, showing resilience and commitment as they prepare for their final assessments.

Additionally, our ‘Strong Start’ initiative has gained great momentum. Each lesson begins with a writing task, and it’s inspiring to see how positively our students have embraced this approach. This initiative not only enhances their subject-specific skills and knowledge but also sets a productive tone for the rest of the lesson.

Congratulations to Ruby Hogan, who has been selected to join the Wyndham City Youth Civic Participation Project. As part of this program, Ruby will work with Local, State and Federal members of Parliament on issues and concerns related to young people and participate in a Parliamentary tour of Canberra.

As we progress through the term, it’s important to remember that it’s never too early to start revising content for exams. The end of the year is fast approaching and consistent review and preparation will ensure our students are ready to shine in their assessments.

At Westport, we are truly embodying our motto, ‘Develop your strength,’ in everything we do; sports, creative arts, academia and social justice. Keep up the great work Westport and all Senior School Students!
